The Fantasy Giro d'Italia 2008 is now over, and victory goes to the team known as Apaches, directed by Rune Wilhelmsen. The leaders narrowly beat long-time leaders Starfire, who held off all but one of the chasing pack when the End-of-Tour classification points were awarded.
The winning squad was helped by the inclusion of Emanuele Sella, Riccardo Ricco and Alberto Contador - the top 3 scoring riders in this years Fantasy points standings.
It was a great performance, mirrored by pink-jersey winner Alberto Contador. The Spaniard was only invited to the race at the last minute, and he now adds a Giro d'Italia victory to his 2007 triumph in the Tour de France. What odds of him adding the Vuelta later this summer?

Mini-Leagues in 2008
For 2008, the site has been improved to allow Mini-Leagues to be set-up and entered right away after your team is submitted. You may therefore immediately set-up your leagues by filling in the required details on the main Mini-League Request page. The entry process has been streamlined so that all entries are allocated a passcode automatically. Simply type your code into the Quick Find box in the top-left corner of the screen. This will take you to
your Roster page, including Mini-league sign-up options. It is hoped that this addition to the site will smooth the entry process, and allow mini-leagues to be set-up with the minimum fuss. If you have any comments or questions, please get in touch on the Contact Form.
Introduction
Velogames is proud to announce another season of Fantasy Cycling contests, starting with the first Fantasy Grand Tour of the year, Fantasy Giro d'Italia 2008.
We will soon find out whether Danilo Di Luca can put a difficult few months behind him and defend the Pink Jersey he earned as Giro winner in 2007.
This year's race sees another Team Time Trial to start things off in Palermo, followed by the undulations of Southern Italy, before the long slog north towards to mountainous battlegrounds of the final, explosive week. With a hard trek across such brutes as the Plan de Corones, Passo di Gavia and Passo di Mortirolo, the back end of the Giro is yet again going to be decisive.
