At a cost of £5.00 to last for the duration of the Tour de France, Velogames Premium Access expands your enjoyment of the game by offering access to bonus teams and extra competitions and a chance at taking home a portion of the prize fund.

BONUS TEAMS!
As long as you sign up for Premium Access before the start of the Tour de France, you will be allocated two additional teams in your user account, leaving you with three teams to play with.
You may want to use your bonus teams as a second-chance in the Main Competition, or target the individual Premium Competitions, which are described below.
It's important to note that you need to have submitted all your teams by the main entry deadline of 1550CET on Saturday 4th July, else you will lose your bonus teams. Therefore, make sure to leave enough time to select your teams if you subscriber to Premium Access on Saturday afternoon!
PREMIUM COMPETITIONS!
The main reason to subscribe to Velogames Premium Access is the opportunity to compete in the extra Premium Competitions, that are only available to Premium subscribers from stage 6 onwards.
All players in the game will be classified in these competitions for the opening five stages, so you can see what the competitions are all about before subscribing to Premium Access (although you will of course lose out your two bonus teams if you subscribe to Premium after the start of the Tour).

Each competition is summarised below.
The Premium League
The Premium League is a private league open to the teams of all Premium Subscribers. The Premium League runs under exactly the same rules as the main Fantasy Tour competition, with the same scoring system.
The Sprints Competition
The Sprints Competition follows the scoring system of the Tour de France Green Jersey Competition, with the exception that points are not awarded for time trial stages and riders keep their points even if they subsequently abandon the Tour.
Points are scored based on finishing positions of riders in each stage, and also each and every intermediate sprint on the road.
The winning team is likely to include several fast finishers, so sprint stages are all important. But there are still lesser points available in the mountains, so the winning directeur will have to make sure they cover all bases!
The Mountains Competition
The Mountains Competition follows the scoring system of the Tour de France King of the Mountains jersey competition, with the exception that points are not awarded for time trial stages and riders keep their points even if they subsequently abandon the Tour.
Points are scored based on the positions of riders across each classified mountain climb in the Tour de France. The climbs are classified into five categories based on the height, length and difficulty of the climb.
Unlike in the main Fantasy Tour competition, the Mountains Competition includes all climbs in the race, including those pesky 3rd and 4th Category climbs early in the race, so you can follow your team on the road as they rack up summit victories.
The winning directeur will likely favour the little thin climbers, but will also need to take heed of the big general classification favourites as, just like in the real tour, summit finishes score double points!
The Medal Race
The Medal Race is an experimental competition of Velogames' own devising!
It rewards stage victories and podium positions for riders as the first three riders across the line each day (apart from the team time trial) will be allocated a Gold, Silver and Bronze medal.
On each stage (not including the Team Time Trial), the winner of the stage is allocated a Gold medal, the runner-up is allocated a Silver medal and the third place finisher is allocated a Bronze medal.
Teams are ranked in the Medal Race based on the number of medals won by the riders in their team, with Gold medals taking precedence over Silvers, and Bronze being the final tiebreak, just like in the Summer and Winter Games medal table. If the leading directeurs are still tied at the end of the 3 week Tour then 4th, 5th and 6th place could come into the equation.
The Medal Race will reward the winners, as no intermediate stage victories are awarded here. And who knows, that quiet, mid-race transition stage could be the victory that provides the winning gold medal for your team!
PRIZES!
Where doees that £5 entry fee go? Well, some if will be used to run the website and its associated costs, but at least half will be awarded back in prizes. The winner of the Premium League is guaranteed to receive 20% of all takings. The winners of the Sprints, Mountains and Medal Race competitions will each get 10% of the fund. I'm also hoping to award second and third place prizes in the Premium League, but that will depend on entry numbers.
MINI LEAGUES ENABLED WITH PREMIUM COMPETITIONS
Mini Leagues are of course open to all users in Fantasy Tour de France, but Premium subscribers will also have a mini league classification for the three extra Premium Competitions of Sprints, Mountains and Medal Race. So you can compete against your friends and colleagues across four different mini league leaderboards. Note that only other Premium users in your mini-league will be included in these classifications after the Stage 5 cut-off.
