Primoz Roglic won Stage 17 of the Vuelta after an attack on the middle slopes of Lagos de Covadonga, riding alone over the final 8km to take a fine solo win and move into the race leader's jersey. Other top daily performances included Damiano Caruso's mountain raid at Stage 9 of the Vuelta, which gathered in 313 points, and Rein Taaramae's victory on Stage 3 of the same race, which netted the Estonian 309 Velogames points and saw him move into first place overall in both the General and KOM classifications.

Read a special preview extract of A PILGRIM’S PROGRESS, an essay featured in The Road Book Cycling Almanack 2021, where author Daniel Friebe provides a lens into psychology of Primož Roglič as he recovered from disappointment at the Tour de France to triumph in Tokyo and La Vuelta.
