Alessandro Covi took a solo stage victory - and highest daily Velogames points total of the Grand Tour season - on Stage 20 of this year's Giro. He distanced his 14 breakaway companions on the lower slopes of the fearsome Passo Pordoi - Cima Coppi of this year's edition - before riding 50km alone to finish atop the fearsome Marmolada climb. The Italian's daily total of 312 was especially impressive given he picked up no additional points for any ongoing GC or Points classification placing, or any assist points, gaining all but six of his points on the road (and at the finish) between Belluno and the Marmolada summit. Summit points for first place at the Cima Coppi and 1st Category climb at the stage finish certainly helped propel Covi to the top of the rankings - ahead of Tom Pidcock (who gained 303 points during his epic win at Alpe d'Huez) and Lennard Kämna (who scored a total of 301 atop of Mount Etna on Stage 4 of the Giro).
